The GPT Group engaged Accuraco to project manage the façade remediation works to the glass canopy at Melbourne Central Tower foyer. This landmark office and retail property, located in the Melbourne CBD, is owned by The GPT Group. Melbourne Central currently has over 300 retailers located at the center. The shopping center covers two city blocks, whilst Melbourne Central Tower is a 51 level, Premium Grade office tower.

The remediation works apply to the internal spaceframe glazed roof canopy within the Melbourne Central Foyer, and adjacent glazed canopy along Menzies Lane external to the Tower.

The remedial items are based on the investigative works undertaken by Arup, which include the following.

  • Repair work to existing glazed roof system, including various components of the system such as the horizontal/ vertical framing and the apex.
  • Patch repair work to steel elements on the underside of the gutter to the glazed roof.
  • Replacement of waterproof membrane to the full extent of the gutter system to the glazed roof.
  • Spray water test of the entire roof area to confirm water tightness of the glazed roof and/ or identify further water leaks from the glazed roof.
