From 12th September 2016 and the following days, a significant and prolonged rain event occurred. This event had significantly impacted on Parks Victoria infrastructure and visitor facilities. Accuraco has been engaged to undertake a condition review including the detailed assessment, measurement and recommendations for repair works to the flood damaged Structures, Visitor Sites and Assets within the Grampians National Park.

Once engaged by Parks Victoria, Accuraco immediately undertook detail site inspections of the damaged areas. Accuraco then followed the necessary guidelines to accurately record all flood damage. The Insurance Claim Process advised Parks Victoria of the key elements necessary to have a claim approved by the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA).

Spatial data and mapping were integrated into the reports to highlight areas of fire damage for ease of identification and future substantiation of insurance claims. This was particularly useful for assets where damage was intermittent over large distances, as was the case when assessing repairs to a 15km rabbit proof fence in the north eastern corner of the park.

With some eight specific areas which were damaged by the flood waters, Accuraco has to date been accurately identifying and documenting all site areas that will be repaired and as some are very remote the accuracy in assessing appropriate costs for these works is where the experience and capabilities of the Accuraco team is adding real value to Parks Victoria and the insurer.
