Substantially a new campus build to replace obsolete 1960s facilities which were dysfunctional and inappropriate for current learning and teaching. The existing facilities were also substantially larger in floor area than required for the current roll so a modern and flexible design solution has been proposed with a footprint around 25% of the previous facilities.

The Department of Education engaged Accuraco for another modernisation project with new campus facilities to be developed at the Niddrie Campus of Essendon Keilor College. Accuraco is the leading a project team with the construction now underway.

The new design by Haskell Architects provides for a central common and access area with specialist learning hubs for graphics, home science, art, and science located around the perimeter while general purpose classroom, amenities and administration are located on the other side. With many and varied lines, clerestory windows and inside-outside learning connections the building design is both striking and functional.

With extensive areas of landscaping and civil works, the challenge has been to achieve all of the built form of 2,867sqm and the external elements within what is a challenging budget. Several value management reviews have and continue to be undertaken to ensure costs are within the available budget including reducing the overall building height and reducing the wall to floor ratios.

The Project currently remains on budget and to program. An Early Works package was let to demolish the existing buildings and removal hazardous materials in readiness for a construction commencement from May-17.
