Accuraco has been engaged by Development Victoria to provide Project Management services in the delivery of this landmark project.
The refurbishment of Rod Laver Arena forms a significant part of the Melbourne Park and Olympic Park’s Masterplan. A major redevelopment of Melbourne Park has been proposed to secure its future as the home of the Australian Open, and to maintain its status as a world-class sport and entertainment precinct. Stage 1 of the redevelopment consisted of the National Tennis Centre and redevelopment of Margaret Court Arena. Both of these have now been successfully delivered.
Stage 2 of the redevelopment includes the new Administration and Media Building, the Batman Avenue Bridge and the Rod Laver Arena Refurbishment. The Rod Laver Arena Refurbishment includes a new eastern-facing primary entrance, which will also provide food and beverage facilities and toilets, an expanded public concourse space with accessible entrances to the seating bowl and significant back-of-house improvements to ensure that Rod Laver Arena can continue to host the best events in Australia.
Accuraco assisted the Project Director throughout the detailed procurement phase in selecting the Managing Contractor inclusive of government processes, including Gateway and High-Value-High Risk approval.
The Managing Contractor has been appointed to deliver four Warranted Maximum Price portions of work over a four year program. The construction will be technically challenging due to the nature of the works and having to undertake the construction around a live environment that will continue to host the Australian Open, major sporting and entertainment events.
Accuraco continues its engagement with Development Victoria as the Project Lead delivering providing Project Management Services on this iconic area.
Accuraco was appointed on the basis of their solid understanding of complex, staged projects being undertaken in an operational environment and the specific requirements of managing a Design and Construct contractor undertaking a project of significance for the State of Victoria.
