Parks Victoria appointed Accuraco to manage the Loss Assessments for Wyperfeld National Park following the fires that occurred in January 2014. The fires spanned more than 56,000 hectares of bushland, damaging a wide range of Parks Victoria assets including roads, fence lines, signage and camping facilities.
We provided a condition review that included the detailed assessment, measurement and recommendation for the repair works to the fire damaged sites that occurred as a result of the fire event.
The reports clearly identified and documented the following:
- A description of the pre-event condition.
- A description of the damage from the event.
- A description of works required to return the asset to its pre-event condition.
- Estimated costs associated with the works to return the asset to its pre-fire condition.
Spatial data and mapping were integrated into the reports to highlight areas of fire damage for ease of identification and future substantiation of insurance claims. This was particularly useful for assets where damage was intermittent over large distances, as was the case when assessing repairs to a 15km rabbit proof fence in the north eastern corner of the park.
